Transitions l 2023
Transitions was created during a stay in the Waldviertel region of Austria and deals with the various transitional states of the textile industry. Small mixed-media works consisting of collages and self-made colour pigments from locally collected debris and dust document the transition of a steadily decaying industry back to nature over time. Plants are spreading where mass production of textiles once took place. The symmetrical arrangement is inspired by the structure of permeable factory brick walls.
Texts describe, using exemplary events, the effects of mass production of textiles and toxic chemicals and emissions on nature and the population of manufacturing countries in the Global South. A T-shirt painted with foam evokes associations with rivers that have been poisoned with chemical dyes and show formations of coloured foam.

STOFF_WECHSEL is an interactive installation space that was created in early September 2021 in Auer-Welsbach-Park Vienna as part of an interdisciplinary collaboration between students from various Austrian art colleges within the framework of the Arts of Change project. STOFF_WECHSEL highlights and questions capitalist dynamics that are deeply rooted in our society and taken for granted. The focus is on two areas that are closely linked through their instrumentalisation for greater growth and efficiency: the inseparable pair of consumption and production (keywords: mass production, exploitation, waste, throwaway society) and the associated social values (keywords: self-optimisation, work-life balance, stress factors, burnout). In addition, an interactive utopian space opens up in the centre of the installation, where visitors can try out transformative approaches to their own lifestyles towards degrowth and post-growth through various playful media inputs.
