Helena Detsch is a visual artist and environmentalist from Germany. She holds a diploma degree of fine arts and cultural studies from Art University Linz, Austria and completed an Erasmus semester in animation at Turku Art Academy, Finland. She currently lives and works between Germany, Finland and Austria.

Helena works across oil painting, installation and moving image. Her practice explores (mis)relationships between humans and more-than-human life, questioning dominant narratives of nature as a resource. Through painted series and immersive spatial works at the intersection of arts and science, she creates spaces for reflection on coexistence, sustainability and socio-ecological transformation. To develop a more sustainable art method, she is researching how to craft natural paints from plant and soil pigments.

Helena is a co-founder and member of the open art collective BLUE SKIES, which has been curating and organizing group exhibitions on the topics of climate crisis and socio-ecological change since 2024.
